Akhilesh to meet Mamata this evening, criticizes Center for misusing central agencies

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on March 17 slammed the BJP-led government at the Center for misusing central agencies to “harass leaders and public representatives of opposition parties” who pose a threat to the saffron camp .

Mr Yadav, who is in the city to preside over his party’s two-day national executive Program to meet the Chief Minister of West Bengal and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee on Friday evening.

“ED, CBI and Income Tax are BJP’s political weapons. Here in Bengal, examples are few. In Uttar Pradesh, many of our (SP) leaders, including MLAs, are in jail on false and fabricated cases.” he told reporters after his arrival at the Kolkata airport.

“BJP sends ED and CBI to harass opposition parties who threaten it,” he said.

SP sources said that the Samajwadi Party will hold its two-day national executive in Kolkata from March 18 to discuss policies and strategies for the assembly elections in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh to be held later this year and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Has been

Mr. Yadav is going to address the workers’ meeting at Moulali Yuva Kendra this afternoon.

Sources said that after this he will go to meet Ms. Banerjee at her residence.

Both the leaders share a very cordial relationship.

Mr Yadav had extended his party’s support to the TMC during the 2021 Bengal assembly election, which Ms Banerjee reciprocated when she campaigned for the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister during the 2022 election in that state.
