Akhilesh Yadav will not contest the next assembly elections of UP, said- ‘The alliance between SP-RLD is decided’

Ahead of the UP assembly elections, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said that he will not contest the elections to be held early next year. Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yadav said the alliance between the SP and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) for the elections has been finalised.

“Our alliance with RLD is final. The seat-sharing is yet to be finalised,” he told PTI in an interview.

Yadav, who is also the SP MP from Azamgarh, said he “will not contest the assembly polls”.

On the possibility of taking along uncle Shivpal Yadav’s Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia (PSPL) in the elections, he said, “I have no problem with it. He and his men will be given due respect.”
