Akshay Kumar tests Covid-19 positive, will not attend Cannes Film Festival

Superstar Akshay Kumar has tested positive for COVID-19. He will not be able to attend the Cannes Film Festival 2022.

Akshay wrote on Twitter, “Really looking forward to our cinema at India Pavilion at Cannes 2022, but sadly have tested positive for covid. Will rest it. Wishing you and your entire team all the very best, @ Iyanurgathakur. Really will miss being there.”

Akshay was to walk the red carpet as part of the Indian contingent on the opening day of the 75th Cannes Film Festival along with music maestro AR Rahman, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and actor Pooja Hegde.

This is the second time in more than a year that Akshay Kumar has been diagnosed with the virus. In April 2021, he shared that he tested positive for the virus. “I want to inform everyone that, this morning, I have tested positive for COVID-19. I have immediately isolated myself following all the protocols. I am in home quarantine and I have sought necessary medical care. I wholeheartedly request all the people who have come in contact with me to get themselves tested and take care of themselves. Very soon back in action,” he wrote.
