This is the second time Akshay has contracted the coronavirus infection during the ongoing pandemic. Earlier, during the shooting of Ram Setu, several people from the actors and crew had tested COVID-19 positive, leading to a complete halt of the shooting in April 2021.

Film personalities were supposed to walk the red carpet on the opening day of the 75th Cannes Film Festival on May 17. Noted Folk Singer Mame Khan, Actor Nawazuddin SiddiquiNayanthara, Tamannaah Bhatia and Vani Tripathi, two-time Grammy winning music composer Ricky Cage, and CBFC President Prasoon Joshi are also part of the Indian contingent at the festival.

Meanwhile, Akshay’s upcoming release is the historical action drama Prithviraj, in which he stars alongside Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood and newcomer Manushi Chhillar. Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the film will hit the big screens on June 3.
