He apologized to the association for announcing his withdrawal and claimed that he did not and will not endorse tobacco. But the troubles don’t seem to end for him. Now, netizens have found an old advertisement of the 54-year-old actor where he is seen promoting a cigarette brand.

Kumar said he has decided to “step back” from the brand and will now donate his entire fees to a “worthy cause”.

The actor apologized through a long note on his social media. He wrote, “I am sorry. I want to apologize to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your response in the last few days has touched me a lot.”

Continuing his note, Akshay wrote that he still stands by what he said in that particular video that surfaced on the internet, “While I do not and will not endorse tobacco, I do not support my association with Vimal. Honored to express your sentiments in light of the association. Cardamom. With all humility, I step back. I have decided to contribute the entire support fee to a worthy cause.”

Kumar said the brand may continue to air the advertisements for “the legal period of the contract binding on me”.

“But I promise to be extremely careful in my future elections. I will always ask for your love and best wishes in return,” he said.

Earlier, Megastar Amitabh Bachchan One had also backed out of the advertising campaign of a pan masala brand and said that they had refunded the money received for its promotion.
