All India OBC Students Union demands increase in upper age limit in Inspire Fellowship

all India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA) has asked the Science Minister and technology Jitendra Singh provided age relaxation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) Category in Innovation in Science Pursuit in Inspired Research (Inspire) Faculty Fellowship at par with Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Women candidates.

The association took it to Twitter to raise its demands. In a tweet, it said, “We have requested Shri Jitendra Singh, Minister of Science and Technology, Government of India. To give age relaxation for SC, ST and OBC in Inspire Faculty Fellowship for women.

In a letter addressed to Singh, AIOBCSA wrote, “We are glad that the applications for INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship 2022 have been notified, but there is an injustice in the upper age limit for Other Backward Classes (OBC) category which is at par with the general category. which is equal to 32. years. In the same notification, there is relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST, Women candidates (37 years) and Persons with Disabilities (42 years).

The student union told that the science department and technology (DST) has given age relaxation to OBCs in the upper age restriction in other advertisements, which include DST SERB- National Post Doctoral Fellowship (N-PDF) – 40 years, DST SERB- Startup Research Grant (SRG) – 45 years and DST SERBs are included. – Teachers’ Associateship for Research Excellence (SERB-TARE) – 45 years.

The denial of age relaxation for OBC in Faculty Fellowship is a serious loss to the socially and educationally underdeveloped population, claims the President of AIOBCSA, who urged Jitendra Singh to provide age relaxation for OBC candidates.

DST has started the registration for INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship Program from 1st July, 2022. Candidates will be able to apply for the DST INSPIRE Fellowship for the academic year 2022 till 15th August.
