All universities should provide education from KG to PG: Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday said that all the universities of the state should provide education from kindergarten level to post-graduation. Advocating for quality education under one roof, he said that the government would pay the fees of poor children studying in these universities. The Chief Minister said this while addressing a two-day conference of Vice Chancellors of Universities here, according to an official release.

A conference on education policy, self-employment and management was organized by the Haryana State Council of Higher Education. Khattar said that a new scheme would soon be launched under which the government would pay the fees for the children of families with a verified annual income of less than Rs 1.80 lakh.

MDU, Rohtak under New Education Policy; Khattar said that Kurukshetra University and Women’s University, Khanpur have started providing education from KG level to PG under one roof. Haryana Chief Minister said that the remaining universities of the state should also work at a fast pace to provide education on the same lines so that every youth of the state can get higher education easily under one roof. Khattar said that employment oriented programs should be designed in universities and computer education should be made compulsory so that in the present age of technology every youth is computer proficient.

Employment oriented education should be given to the youth so that they can get employment after completing their education. He said that the departments of technical education and higher education would be merged to provide quality education to the youth.

The CM said that this would also reduce unnecessary burden on the government and youth would be able to get quality technical and high level education. The Chief Minister said that emphasis should be laid on making the universities of the state financially strong and self-reliant so that they do not depend on government grants.

He said that the government hires agencies from outside for the work of consultants, surveys. He said that universities would be given such work in future, this would increase their income.
