Allahabad High Court dismisses petition challenging decision to give money to artists on Navratri

The Allahabad High Court has dismissed a PIL challenging the Uttar Pradesh government’s order to pay honorarium to artistes who make announcements in the court during the Navratri festival programme. According to the order issued by the Chief Secretary of the state on March 10, 2023, it was decided to release one lakh rupees per district for payment to artists on the occasion of Navratri.

The petition filed by Chief Justice Pritinkar Diwakar and Soumitra Dayal Singh, after hearing the plea of ​​the petitioner’s counsel and Additional Advocate General, dismissed the PIL filed by one Rajeev Kumar Yadav last Friday. A plea challenging the order has already been dismissed by the court seeking leave of this stand.

To this, the court said, “Since the language petition has already been disposed of in this case, we see no reasonable cause for taking a different view.” Took note of the order and came to the conclusion that the March 10 order is not in favor of any activity promoting any religion.
