Chandigarh: East Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh In addition to hinting at a seat-sharing arrangement with the U.S., it has finally announced its next political move by announcing its plans to start a political party. “Hopefully, in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, there will be a seat agreement with the BJP, if the farmers’ protest is resolved in the interest of the farmers,” he said. “The fight for the future of Punjab is on. I will soon announce to start my own political party to serve the interests of Punjab and its people including our farmers who have been fighting for their existence for more than a year.

Amarinder further said, ‘I will not rest till I secure the future of my people and my state. Punjab needs political stability and protection from internal and external threats. I promise my people that I will do whatever it takes to ensure its peace and security, which is at stake today.
Amarinder had earlier announced that he would leave Congress and met the Union Home Minister Amit Shah And National Security Adviser Ajit Doval sparked speculation last month that he would join the BJP, which he clarified he would not do.
Amarinder stepped down on 18 September in what was widely seen as a move to remove him from the post of chief minister through an emergency Congress Legislature Party meeting convened by the All India Congress Committee. He had met the governor less than half an hour before the crucial meeting.
