Amarnath Yatra 2022: Jammu and Kashmir Police issues traffic advisory

The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police had on July 3 issued an advisory for tourists, pilgrims and truck movement on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway during the Amarnath Yatra.

As per the advisory, empty tankers and trucks of up to 10 wheels will ply from Mughal Road towards Jammu. Trucks carrying up to 10 wheels, including perishables, will preferably use the Mughal Road towards Jammu.

The timing of Mughal Road has also been extended from 7 am to 4 pm, subject to daily assessment by traffic officials, the advisory said.

Apart from this, trucks with more than 10 wheels will pass through NH-44 (Srinagar-Jammu National Highway). Trucks with more than 10 wheels loaded with perishable fresh goods should reach Jakheni Naka/Qazigund Naka before 2 PM. It has been said in the advisory that these trucks will be parked separately and priority will be given to them as and when traffic continues.

Pilgrims and tourists in the Kashmir Valley, apart from those traveling by yatra convoy, have been advised to travel only between 7 am and 6 pm.

If they fail to reach their destination within 6 pm, the security forces will stop them at the nearest lodgement center for the night, the advisory read.
