Amazon’s Twitch CEO Emmett Scher resigns after 16 years

New Delhi: Emmett Scheer, CEO of video live-streaming platform Twitch, has resigned with immediate effect after 16 years in the top role. Dan Clancy, the current Twitch President, will step fully into the role of CEO effective immediately. “He cares deeply about the Twitch community, its streamers and our employees, and understands what Twitch, Twitch is all about,” Schier said in a blog post late Thursday.

He debuted on Twitch in October 2006. Sixteen years and four months later, “I’ve never done direct deposit a second time”. Shear said that Twitch Inc. became a wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon, as well as “we’ve grown to over 8 million streamers a month”.

“With the birth of my first child, I’m considering my future with Twitch. Twitch often makes me feel like a child I’m raising too. And as long as Twitch needs me, I’ve always wanted to be there.” At 16 I feel Twitch is ready to move out of the house and venture out on my own,” Shearer wrote.
