Mishra’s reply soon went viral on social media with over 21,000 likes on Twitter. Meanwhile, Afridi had tried to suggest that Kohli was heading towards retirement.

He said, ‘The way Virat has played, the way he has started his career, there was a struggle in the beginning before making a name for it. He is a champion and I believe there comes a time when you are moving towards retirement. But in that scenario, the goal should be to rise higher,” Afridi said on Sama TV.

“It should not reach a level where you are dropped from the team and instead when you are at your peak. However this rarely happens. Very few players, especially the cricketers from Asia take this decision, but I think when Virat does it, he will do it in the same style and probably the same way he started his career,” the former The all-rounder said.

Kohli completed his maiden T20I century in the last match of Team India’s Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai on Thursday night (September 8). Kohli opened the innings in the absence of regular opener Rohit Sharma and started playing his shots once settled. This is his first century in T20. And most importantly, his first international century in more than 3 years. His fans were waiting for this moment for more than 3 years, his last century came in a test match in November of 2019. That was in a test match vs Bangladesh. Since then, Virat has struggled for big scores while he has scored some 70 and 80 runs.

Mishra took 76, 64 and 16 wickets for India in 22 Tests, 36 ODIs and 10 T20 Internationals respectively. He also took 166 wickets in 154 IPL matches in his career.
