Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address two election rallies Tripura On February 6, a senior party leader said.

Mr Shah is scheduled to land at Agartala’s MBB airport on Sunday at 11.30 pm

On Monday, Shah will address two election rallies at Khowai in Khowai district and Santirbazar in South Tripura district. The senior party leader said the Union minister would also attend a roadshow in Agartala city on Monday.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha along with Yuva Morcha State President Nabadal Banik visited Khowai and Santir Bazar on Saturday to see the preparations for the two election rallies to be addressed by the Union Home Minister.

Security has been tightened in the capital city in view of the roadshow to be led by the Union Home Minister, a senior police officer said on Sunday.

Earlier, the Union Home Minister visited the state on January 5 and took part in two Rath Yatras – one from Dharmanagar in North Tripura and the other from Sabroom in South Tripura to launch the party’s campaign for the assembly elections.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are also scheduled to visit Tripura on February 7 to take part in the party’s election campaign.

Polling for the 60-member Tripura assembly will be held on February 16. The BJP has fielded candidates on 55 seats, leaving five seats for its ally IPFT.

In the 2018 assembly elections, BJP got 36 seats while its ally IPFT got eight seats.
