Amitabh Kant to be new Sherpa for G20 – Times of India

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the appointment of Amitabh Kanto As India’s Sherpa for the G20, the group representing the world’s largest economies.
Retired IAS officer Kant recently stepped down as the CEO of NITI Aayog and will be the PM’s envoy and principal policy negotiator on the platform.
His appointment comes ahead of a crucial meeting in Indonesia next week to lay the groundwork for the leaders’ summit at the end of the year.
He will play a key role in setting the agenda for the post of President of India next year.
Kant will replace Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who was the Sherpa of India.
