Amul welcomes cheetahs to India with ‘purr-fect’ topic

After a 70-year wait, eight cheetahs were released to their new home in the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. These cheetahs were brought from Namibia by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday on 17 September. To celebrate this historic development, Amul took to Instagram to share a creative doodle. In the picture, we can see the Amul mascot sitting next to a cheetah in the forest. “We’re Seeing Cheetahs Again! Perfect Taste!” reads the post. The accompanying caption reads, “#Amul Topical: 8 big cats brought back to India 70 years after local extinction!” to keep track:

For those unaware, cheetahs were declared locally extinct in India in 1952. They are the fastest land animals in the world and are believed to attain speeds of around 80 to 130 kmph.

PM Modi said, “On this historic day, I would like to congratulate all Indians and also thank the government of Namibia. This could not have been possible without their help.” Further describing cheetahs as ‘guests of India’, Prime Minister Modi said that India will do its best to follow international guidelines in their nutrition.
