Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi recently completed 30 years of its theatrical release.
On the 30th anniversary of the film, Anil Kapoor posted a throwback photo from the sets. He also wrote an emotional note remembering his friend Satish Kaushik.
Anil Kapoor on Sunday remembered dear friend and colleague Satish Kaushik on the 30th anniversary of his film Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. Directed by Kaushik, the film also featured an ensemble cast including Sridevi, Anupam Kher, Johnny Lever and Jackie Shroff. The film which marked an important milestone in Anil Kapoor’s career, remains a beloved classic among the masses. Bollywood fan. Anil Kapoor took to Instagram to share an old picture from the sets of Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, where he can be seen along with director Satish Kaushik, producer Boney Kapoor and legendary actress Sridevi.
He wrote, “A film that may not have done well at the box office but was made with all the heart… Directed by my friend Satish… 30 years ago… Songs and train dacoity by my friend Brilliantly shot… I believe every project is a learning experience and a lovely one!
Anil Kapoor’s recent post brought back nostalgia for many of his fans, with one user expressing his love for the film saying, “This is one of my all time favourites! The train scene shot was way ahead of its time. I can still see it.
Another praised the star-studded cast and wrote, “Wonderful film – even if it flopped, doesn’t mean it was a bad film. It’s a big film with an incredible star cast. Love the whole team.” And Sneh and those who are not with us – Sridevi ji and the director himself, Satish ji.
Meanwhile, Richa Chadha also shared her memory of watching Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja with her family on the big screen. She commented: “Watched it as a 7-year-old in the hall with my parents as a reward! Was an unbeatable fan of Mr. India and wanted to see my favorite pair together. Bought the cassette, (Choo Chu Ka Murabba), the train scene and many more. An ambitious film even for that time.
A special event was organized by Anupam Kher to celebrate the 67th birth anniversary of Satish Kaushik, which was attended by several prominent Bollywood personalities including Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar.
During the event, Azmi shared a memory of Kaushik’s tough times after the failure of Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. She said, “After the failure of the film, she was a ‘dukhi atma’ (unhappy soul) and had a feeling that, ‘Now I should die.’ He was on the first floor and when he looked down because he was looking for ways to commit suicide, there was a party going on. He saw potatoes and brinjals being fried. So he said, ‘Yaar main aloo brinjal. If I die in between, it will be a bad death.
