We’ve been waiting for Apple’s mixed reality headset for quite some time, and rumors suggest we may be closer than ever. Although there’s still time until we get Apple’s first AR/VR headset, what about the rumors? In a Medium post, Ku says Apple will launch a follow-up to its first mixed reality headset — which includes a high-end and an affordable option — in the first quarter of 2025. He further suggested that the introduction of an affordable headset would help drive headset drives, reaching a total of 10 million units by 2026.
‘No-show’ at WWDC 2022
Apple was expected to showcase its headset at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2022), but that never happened. Apple fans didn’t even get to see the much-loved reality OS. But the Cupertino giant has reportedly shown its next big product to its board members, and it could be revealed as early as January 2023.
No word on how affordable the said “affordable headset” will be, however. However, this strategy is not new to Apple; It has released affordable versions of popular products in the past, such as the iPhone SE and Apple Watch SE. So, it will be interesting to see how it turns out. But let alone affordable headsets, we know very little about Apple’s first headset.
