‘The new conditions will deprive many beneficiaries of the financial assistance given under the scheme’

TDP national general secretary N. Lokesh on Friday alleged that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was diluting his favorite project Amma Vodi by adding new guidelines/conditions which the beneficiaries were expected to fulfill.

In a statement, Mr Lokesh, who is also an MLC, said that the new conditions would deprive many of the existing beneficiaries of the financial assistance being given under the scheme. He pulled up Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy for not talking about these “conditions” at the time of election.

He said that families consuming more than 300 units of electricity in a month were ineligible for this scheme and so were the students whose attendance was less than 75% from November 8 to April 30.

He said that schools should simply enter the bank account number of the student’s mother in the Child Info website, which was linked with Aadhaar, and students should also update their details in the school login edit to avail the benefits.

Mr Lokesh said, out of the initially announced financial assistance of ₹15,000 to mothers sending their children to government schools, ₹1,000 is being deducted in the Toilet Maintenance Fund.

election promise

The TDP leader said that most of the plans mentioned in the YSRCP’s election manifesto have started falling apart. He said that the government does not have money to continue the schemes and thus, they are being gradually reduced.

Lokesh said that by introducing new conditions in the Amma Vodi scheme, the Chief Minister has cheated those mothers who believe in his words and send their children to government institutions.

He demanded that the Chief Minister keep his election promise and make full payment to the mothers identified as beneficiaries of the scheme.
