Anirban Lahiri demands return to form at Genesis Invitational

Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri will be hoping to up his iron game and small game as he prepares for a thrilling run on the PGA Tour, starting with this week’s star-studded Genesis Invitational, hosted by Tiger Woods. is a program.

The 34-year-old Indian admitted that he has been in poor form since the start of the year, but would like to turn his fortunes around at the historic Riviera Country Club, which stages a USD 12 million showpiece as one of three high-end Is. Events on Tour.

1 Jon Rahm and current FedExCup champion Patrick Kentley, each of the world’s top-10 players are in specific territory this week. Max Homa is defending his title.

“I have played well in the patch and have had disappointing results overall, no doubt about it,” Lahiri said.

I felt like I got some positive things out of every golf I’ve played this year and it was clear what I needed to work on. I need to keep up my game, putting up and scrambling.

From Rive to the events that followed, we’re moving into golf courses that are demanding and require elite ball-striking. I am working on my put and iron play and just trying to be patient and focused. I have been guilty of losing my patience in the past.

The Indian star has made two cuts from three starts in 2022, while missing the weekend at last week’s WM Phoenix Open after rounds of 70 and 75.

Her first visit in three years to the Par-71 Riviera Course, which is also the host site for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, has given her a dose of good vibes.

“It’s great to be back. The Rive is by far my favorite golf course we play on our regular schedule outside the Majors. I’ve fallen in love with the place since the first time I moved”, Lahiri said, who completed T64 and T26 respectively in 2017 and 2018, when the event was known as the Genesis Open.

“I played well in the past and I have good memories. I love old school golf courses. It’s a joy, a real pleasure and we are in a great field and everything is so amazing with this tournament.”

While the 2028 Olympic Games still have a long way to go, Lahiri is not writing herself out to present one more time for her country as she knows the Olympics promote the sport in India.

2028 is far away. “I have been fortunate enough to wear the tricolor on two occasions (Rio in 2016 and Tokyo last year) and of course Paris (2024) is my target and I am actively focusing on that,” he said.

If I get a chance to do it again in 2028, that would be awesome. I won’t be a spring chicken until then, but if I can stay fit and healthy, who’s to say I won’t be back, and wear orange, saffron and green all over again. Golf in the Olympics has been amazing, especially for some minority golfing nations like India.

Lahiri last won a pro title at the Hero Indian Open in 2015 and has been seeking his first PGA Tour win since then.
