Annu Kapoor’s old pan masala ad with unexpected twist will make Abbas-Mustan go crazy

Exaggeration is used in Indian advertisements as a common factor in persuading people to buy the product. In the past, there have been many advertisements that have soared the heights of exaggeration, whether it was falling after the scent of perfume from heaven. Indian ads never fail to surprise the audience with their quirky marketing strategy.

Now, once again, an Indian ad is dividing the netizens. On Tuesday, a Twitter user named Jeena Kholkar shared a pan masala advertisement on the micro-blogging platform. The viral footage of the ad features Antakshari fame Annu Kapoor in the lead role.

The veteran actor made his debut on a sweet note by the school audience about the adoption. With on-the-go dialogues, Kapoor manages to strike the emotional chord of the audience. However, what happens next can be written off as one of the most unexpected turns ever. Initially, the footage of what appears to be an adopted PSA immediately turns into a Rajshree pan masala ad, leaving everyone shocked and confused at the same time.

The viewers who were very attached to the script of the video felt completely cheated in the later part of the clip. Check out the weird ad below:

As soon as the footage surfaced online, it completely stunned the native Twitter users. A user reacting to the clip revealed that they initially thought it was an NGO advertisement. The user wrote, “I thought he was doing an advertisement for a government/NGO, but last me abruptly sakte sakte sakte badal gaya jazbaat badal gaya (But in the end he changed the timing and sentiments too).”

Another added, “Didn’t see it coming.”

One Twitterati who was impressed by the quirky marketing strategy shared, “Product placement at its best! The audience will not forget the product.”

However, the advertisement did not go down well with a section of the internet. One of them said, “What a beautiful message! But in the end, he screwed it up… for the money. Shame.”

Several users also used hilarious gifs and scenes from the film to express their reaction to the unexpected twist. Check out some of them here:

The tweet containing the viral clip has so far garnered over 800 likes on the micro-blogging site.
