Another meeting of the opposition in Siddipet

In a span of three weeks, Siddipet district is witnessing hectic activity by opposition parties for the second time.

Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who started the padyatra in the state, will conclude his program in Hussainabad on October 2, the party leadership announced on Wednesday night. Although the program was to culminate in Huzurabad, where the bypoll was announced after former health minister Eatala Rajendra resigned from the TRS and his elected post, it was shifted to Husnabad due to the model code of conduct in force. The by-polls will be held on October 30 and the counting of votes will take place on November 2.

Mr. Sanjay has undertaken a padyatra to boost the party’s prospects in the state and pave the way for the 2023 general elections in the state and 2024 at the Centre. The BJP state president is on an aggressive stand against the state government and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao is targeting. By late Wednesday he wrote an open letter to the chief minister demanding that the government release a white paper on double-bedroom houses constructed in three constituencies – Gajwel being represented by the chief minister, followed by Siddipet. Finance Minister T Harish Rao and Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao in Sircilla and the remaining 116 assembly constituencies of the state are being represented.

Several BJP leaders from the state and the Center are expected to attend the meeting. It may be recalled that on September 17, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President A Revanth Reddy organized a public meeting of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, which proved to be a major success in his native place. The second public meeting of Mr. Sanjay Kumar is being held in the district which is being represented by Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao and Mr. Harish Rao.
