The 31-year-old forward returned to his former club Atletico Madrid ahead of the 2021-22 season in a two-year loan deal. And the contract reportedly includes a €35 million buyout option if Griezmann manages to play 50 percent of Atletico Madrid’s matches during the two-year-long loan period.
Griezmann has appeared in the first two La Liga games as a substitute. In the first La Liga match against Getafe, Griezmann came to the pitch in the 62nd minute. And he just needed 13 minutes to find the back of the net. Atlético Madrid eventually won the away game by a solid 0–3 margin.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone recently gave a major update on Griezmann’s future. Simeone expressed his desire to have Griezmann join the team in the future. “He is adaptable because he has good eyesight and works hard. It allows us to play with another attacking player. Griezmann joined Blaugranes ahead of the 2019-20 season. They had signed a five-year deal that included a release clause of £717 million. Griezmann signed a new five-year deal for Atlético Madrid in July 2018, but he later changed his mind and announced that he would be joining a new team. The former Real Sociedad striker represented Barcelona on 102 occasions and scored 35 goals.
