Anubhav Sinha, Rajkummar Rao come together for social drama ‘Bhod’

The 56-year-old filmmaker, known for his hit dramas including “Mulk” and “Article 15”, said he always wanted to work with Rao.

Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha on Thursday announced his next feature film with Rajkummar Rao, a social drama titled “Bhod”.

The 56-year-old filmmaker, known for his hit dramas including ‘Mulk’, ‘Article 15’ and ‘Thappad’, said he always wanted to work with Rao and found the right project in ‘Bhood’.

“‘Mobd’ is one of those titles, the moment you propose it the whole team jumps in. Casting was important for me. The director said that he is thrilled to be reunited with Bhushan Kumar, who backed his 2020 film “Thappad”.

“I am honored to have a solid colleague like Bhushan by my side, who is such a strong pillar and a strong sounding board,” he said.

Rao said Sinha is a filmmaker with a “distinctive voice” and he is honored to be a part of his new film.

“I am thrilled to be working with Anubhav Sinha. It is a great honor and privilege to work with a filmmaker who has such a unique voice. “Also, reuniting with Bhushan Kumar feels like being back on home turf after the success of ‘Ludo’ last year,” said the 37-year-old actor.

As an actor, Rao said, he has always turned to stories that trigger conversations.

“Even as an entertainer, I want my work to make people think. It is an important subject and this character requires me to push myself as an artiste beyond my comfort zone. I can’t wait to start shooting and lose myself in this universe.”

Kumar said he has a long association with Sinha from the 2001 film ‘Tum Bin’ and is proud to be working with the filmmaker once again.

“Every outing together is even more exciting than the last one. ‘Thappad’ is a film that I am extremely proud of and I can’t wait for ‘Bhod’ to start. This is one of the deeply moving stories of the experience and I am very proud to join hands with him again on this. “Raj is a great actor and I can’t think of anyone better to do a film like this,” he added.

‘Bhide’ is likely to go on floors in November and will be shot across Lucknow.

The film will be jointly produced by Kumar’s T-Series and Sinha’s Banaras MediaWorks.

Apart from this film, Sinha’s upcoming directorial venture ‘Anek’ starring Ayushmann Khurrana is currently in post-production.

Rao is currently awaiting the release of the comedy-drama “Hum Do Hamare Do”, which co-stars Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal and Ratna Pathak Shah.

The film will premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on October 29.
