Anushka Sharma announces new film; Watch the teaser of Jhulan Goswami’s biopic ‘Chakda Express’ to release on Netflix

Anushka SharmaChakda Express, a film inspired by the life and times of former Indian cricket captain Jhulan Goswami, will stream on Netflix. The film traces the illustrious journey of one of the fastest female fast bowlers in the history of world cricket as she climbs the ladder against countless obstacles posed by wrong politics to fulfill her only dream: playing cricket. Produced by Anushka Sharma and her brother Karnesh Sharma’s Clean Slate Films, “Chakda Express” is directed by Prosit Roy.

“It is a truly special film as it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. Chakda Express is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and will be an eye-opener in the world of women’s cricket,” said Anushka Sharma said in a statement released by the streamer on Thursday.

“At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the global stage, it was very difficult for women to even think of playing the sport. The film is a dramatic retelling of the many examples that inspired her life and women. also shaped cricket,” the actor said, calling the film “a downtrodden story” in the history of Indian cricket.

Goswami also spoke about the challenges she faced in her career at a time when the prevailing belief was that “women cannot play cricket”.

“It doesn’t matter that sometimes a person’s achievements are placed above his own. It doesn’t matter if the stadium is empty. When you come on the pitch to bowl, you see that the opponent is cricket. The bat is holding and you need to knock out the stumps,” said the cricketer, who hails from Chakdaha town in Nadia district of West Bengal.
