Apple asks employees to return to office gradually

New Delhi: From September 5, Apple has asked employees to come to the office at least three days a week. Apple CEO Tim Cook sent employees an email about the new hybrid work-from-home policy, obtained by The Verge. Cook said in his email that employees are expected to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with additional third days scheduled by individual teams. Employees will also be able to work remotely twice a week.

Apple has repeatedly taken its work out of the office. The Cupertino-based company was supposed to implement the hybrid work policy on January 23, but due to protests from employees, Apple pushed back the date indefinitely. “The teams participating in the pilot will come to the office three days each week, Tuesdays and Thursdays with scheduled days in the company, but now you will come on the third day, it will be decided by your teams. Each team will work to decide which day is right for them, and you’ll hear from their leaders soon. As before, many employees will have the option of working remotely for two days a week. Depending on your role, you will also have the option of working remotely for up to four weeks a year,” read Cook’s memo to the employee.

Cook said the revised framework will improve team flexibility while maintaining individual collaboration. He also urged employees and their families to get vaccinations and booster shots to help slow the spread of the virus.

Apple’s SVP of software engineering, Craig Federighi, also mentioned in the memo that employees will have to work from the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

“As you can see from Tim’s note, we’re changing the pilot so that our three days in the office consist of two days, with all of us working together in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays (our company-wide days). and an additional in-office day chosen by your team, with a focus on collaboration with your immediate coworkers.” Please share your thoughts with your manager on the third day of your team’s office next week. This will help them determine which day works best for the entire team.”
