Apple devices are helping people improve their hearing health—here’s how

New Delhi: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 430 million people globally, or 5 percent of the world population, suffer from hearing impairment. To help people monitor and protect hearing health, Apple has introduced some useful features such as safe listening features, headphone housing, voice recognition and more.

According to findings from the recent Apple Hearing Study, 25 percent of participants experienced daily average environmental noise exposure (which can include traffic, machinery, public transportation, etc.) that exceeded the WHO recommended limits. ,Also Read: Will ChatGPT Take Away Your Job? The Noise app on Apple Watch uses a microphone to measure the decibel level in your environment, the company said on Friday on World Hearing Day. According to the company, noise notifications alert you if the sound level in your environment has reached a level that could affect your hearing. ,Also read: Elon Musk is no longer the richest person in the world: Billionaire lost title in just 2 days,

Users can also open the Noise app on their Apple Watch to measure the decibel level of their environment in real-time.

Adaptive transparency on AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) dynamically reduces the amount of harsh environmental noises, like heavy construction or passing vehicle sirens, reacting instantly to high-decibel noises from your side.

This helps users reduce harmful levels of noise exposure during everyday routines, such as the morning commute or lunch, and can also be particularly helpful at concerts or live entertainment events.

For extended exposure to loud environments, it may be even more helpful to turn on Active Noise Cancellation prior to exposure.

For people who listen to loud headphone audio for long periods of time, which may affect their ability to hear, iPhone and Apple Watch can automatically send a notification that recommends they should turn down the volume.

In addition, you can use the Settings app to set the maximum decibel level that, according to Apple, keeps your headphone audio at a comfortable level. The headphone accommodation feature lets users customize the audio to suit their listening needs.

“When you’re talking with someone in a noisy environment, Conversation Boost on your AirPods Pro or AirPods Pro Max can help you hear more clearly by focusing on the voice of the person directly in front of you,” Apple he said.
