Apple releases iOS 15.0.2, iPadOS update to fix bug, zero-day security flaw

A few days after Apple released the iOS 15.0.1 and iPad 15.0.1 updates, new software updates have been released for iPhones, iPod touch and iPad to fix some bugs and a serious security flaw. The latest iOS 15.0.2 and iPad 15.0.2 updates address the issue of photos disappearing from the Photo Library when they are saved with Messages, problems with the Find My feature, and a zero-day vulnerability that allows hackers to access devices. provides.

The new iOS and iPadOS updates are for iPhone 6s and later models, all iPad Pro models, iPad Air 2 and later models, iPad 5th generation and later models, iPad mini 4 and later models, and iPod touch 7th generation.

Apple also launched the Watch OS 8.0.1 update for some of the bugs seen on the Apple Watch 3 and later models.

Here’s what changed with the new iOS and iPad software update:

iOS 15.0.2, iPadOS 15.0.2 Bug Fixes and Security Updates

iOS 15.0.2 and iPadOS 15.0.2 Fixes the problem of saved photos from Messages disappearing from the photo library after the associated thread or message has been deleted. They also fix a bug that caused AirTag not to show up in the Find My Items tab. The iOS update also fixes an iPhone leather wallet issue with MagSafe not connecting to Find My.

iOS 15.0.2 brings bug fixes for CarPlay’s audio app failing to open or disconnecting during playback. For iPhone 13 models and the newer iPad mini (6th generation), the problem with restoring or updating a device may fail when using Finder or iTunes has been fixed even with the latest update.

The new iOS update, the second after iOS 15 was first rolled out, also fixes a zero-day vulnerability that allowed malicious actors to execute arbitrary code. This can already be exploited by those who know how, so users need to update to the latest version of the software on compatible devices as soon as possible.

watchOS 8.0.1 bug fix

watchOS 8.0.1 fixes some released fixes reported by Apple Watch 3 users. The update fixes a bug that was causing software update progress not to be displayed properly on some Apple Watch 3 units. Another bug addressed in this update was Accessibility settings not displaying for some users.

How to Download New Software Updates

For iOS 15.0.2 and iPadOS 15.0.2, users on compatible devices will need to go to Settings, then General and select Software Update. You can see two software update options available. You can choose to stay on iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 and still get important security updates. To update to iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, select that option. Don’t forget to back up your data before starting the update. Once it’s all done, tap Install Now to start the update.

For watchOS 8.0.1, users can download the update directly to the smartwatch by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Or alternatively, they can go to the My Watch tab on the Watch app on their connected device to update the watch.
