Apple sold over 1.2 million iPhones in India in Q2, registering 94 percent growth: Report

CMR expects the iPhone to capture 4 per cent smartphone market share in India, while the iPad is set to capture 20 per cent market share in its respective category. The macro environment remains tough for smartphone brands in India due to inflationary pressures, a weak rupee and moderation in consumer demand.

“The premium smartphone segment has remained immune, and has benefited from the consumer inclination to take revenge in the new normal,” Ram said. Apple’s increased and diversified iPhone production capabilities in India, coupled with aggressive retail initiatives, continue to contribute to its strong growth momentum in India.

Earlier this year, the tech giant confirmed that it has started manufacturing its best-selling iPhone 13 smartphone in India. Apple first started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017 with the iPhone SE. In Q1 2022, Apple shipped around 1 million ‘Make-in-India’ iPhones, registering an overall growth of 22 percent, led by the iPhone 12 and 13.
