Apple, UK NGO partner to improve water management in India

New Delhi: Apple Inc in partnership with Frank Water, a United Kingdom-headquartered non-governmental organization (NGO), on Friday said it will help develop data and analytics-driven methods for better management and conservation of water in India. .

The partnership has been launched with a pilot project in the Anekal suburb of Bengaluru, where the NGO will collect water consumption details in the area and engage community members to take steps to prevent water wastage and improve consumption efficiency. will help.

To do this, Apple and Frank Waters will use a technique called ‘hydrological modelling’, which uses software simulations to measure water input, use and waste. According to Apple, the equipment will be used to obtain results that will then be presented to area residents to prevent unnecessary wastage of water and strategically improve consumption patterns.

According to the companies, the project will involve local businesses, organizations and community members.

The move comes almost a year after the Pune-based NGO, in partnership with the Applied Environmental Research Organization (AERF), announced its mangrove forest conservation project in Maharashtra. The latter, which was provided an undisclosed amount as a grant by Apple, works to help develop ways to better conserve the region’s carbon-absorbing mangrove forests in estuaries in Maharashtra.
