Expressing his concerns, he says, “He has said that he has got 5 grams Charas By Arbaaz Merchant shoes. But when only a small quantity was found, why was there a need for custody? He has said that he was going to smoke that charas on the ship. What do they need to investigate about this clear and simple case of consumption?” When ETimes asked Sayyed whether it was true that NCB officials found drugs on his client, he replied, “That’s what he said. Well, I didn’t have anything.”

During the court hearing, one of Sayyed’s remarks went viral where he quoted Aryan and Arbaaz as having the ability to buy the ship. Responding to this, Sayyed says, “The 5 grams of charas that they have allegedly received, will those boys go on a ship to sell it? As I said earlier, why would they go on a ship to sell 5 grams of charas when they can buy the whole ship. Returning to his legal language, Sayyed explains why he feels that the NCB’s request for custody is unwarranted. He adds, “My client’s case is a simple matter of consumption. As far as my client is concerned, there is definitely no need for custody for so many days. If 5 grams of charas is found with him and he says he was going to smoke it on the ship, what is the need for investigation?

He argues that the NCB is unnecessarily in the custody of his client. He explains, “If they want to find out where my client bought the charas, ask him. Does it take 5 days to ask this question?”

We remind Syed that as per NCB’s claims, they have linked WhatsApp chats to previous inquiries regarding purchase of drugs. Sayed says, “Those chats were not found on my client’s phone. The chat is on number 1’s phone (number 1 is a reference to Aryan, the first accused in this case) and it is not about this recovery. You see, chats are always a corroborative evidence for recovery. What to do with the chat when there is no recovery?”

Syed does not think that his client Arbaaz is being targeted because he is a friend of Aryan Khan. “It’s not about whether anyone is being targeted or not. The only thing is that Aryan and Arbaaz were together when they were in custody and are now together in this matter. It’s just that they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Sayyed reveals that both Aryan and Arbaaz were not even on board when they were caught by the NCB officials.
