“Are You Calling All Brahmins Rich?”: BJP Leader’s Reply To DMK On Quota

BJP National Mahila Morcha President and Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan on Saturday demanded a white paper on the number of persons seeking higher education and government jobs from unreserved sections of the society in Tamil Nadu.

She was commenting on DMK’s organizing secretary RS Bharti’s challenge to the BJP, asking the saffron party to release a list of communities that are eligible for 10 per cent reservation under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category. are going to be benefited from it, and said that quota will be beneficial only to a particular class.

The Supreme Court on November 7 upheld the 10 per cent quota for EWS in educational institutions and government jobs, saying it is not discriminatory and does not violate the basic structure of the Constitution.

Ms. Srinivasan said that the DMK was trying to spread hatred among the society, as German dictator Adolf Hitler had done with the Jews in the past, adding that only the Brahmin community was going to benefit from the EWS quota.

In a statement, the BJP leader said that those who were not covered under any reservation can benefit from the 10 per cent quota, while Tamil Nadu already has SC/ST, BC, MBC, SC (Arundathiyar) and BC There is 69 percent reservation for Muslim).

Does RS Bharti want to establish that only Brahmins do not come under the ambit of reservation, asked the DMK leader.

He informed that about 60 communities like Saiva Vellalar, Karkatha Vellalar, Nanjil Vellalar, Arunattu Vellalar, Shaiva Mudaliar, Shaiva Chettiar (Vellalars) and Mudaliar, Chettiar, Reddiyar, Naidu are not coming under the category of reservation.

Ms. Srinivasan questioned whether RS ​​Bharathi tried to deny it, or wanted that these communities do not require any reservation. “Are you saying that there is no poor among these caste groups and they are all rich?” he asked the DMK leader.
