Army accuses Pakistan of ‘deceit under the guise of LoC ceasefire’ after infiltration bid fails

New Delhi: The Indian Army on Thursday targeted Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir’s Keran sector, alleging “deceit” under the garb of “ceasefire” along the Line of Control (LoC) amid escalating violence in the Valley.

Three terrorists trying to infiltrate from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) were gunned down on Thursday.

In a statement, the Srinagar-based 15 Corps, also known as Chinar Corps, which looks after the entire Line of Control and Operations in the Kashmir Valley, said, “The export of terrorism to Jammu and Kashmir has been limited to Pakistan in the last three decades. has a state policy”.

It said the growing desperation of terrorist masters in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) is evident from the impact-based operations carried out by the Indian Army and the large number of tourists visiting the Valley as a result of the apparent peace and tranquility.

“Pakistan’s nefarious intention to revive a dying agenda and to boil the pot in Jammu and Kashmir under the guise of a ceasefire agreement by the Pakistan Army is the new sham. The elimination of three Pakistani terrorists, the recovery of war-like shops to include stores of improvised explosive devices, is a clear indication of the intention to disrupt peace, prosperity of the local people and the impending Amarnath Yatra,” the statement said.

Giving details of the infiltration attempt, the Army said that the retaliation was initiated on the basis of joint intelligence inputs of several agencies including the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kupwara.

Several search parties were formed, which carried out searches and several ambushes.

“Contact was established with the terrorists at 4.45 am on May 26 in forward areas along the LoC, leading to heavy exchange of fire. A civil porter also lost his life in the shelling. Intensive search was conducted in the morning and ended at around 2 pm.

The search of the area led to the discovery of bodies of terrorists, three AK rifles, one pistol, six grenades and stores belonging to large quantities of ammunition and improvised explosive devices, it said.
