Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann visit Golden Temple ahead of mega roadshow

Newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal will hold a roadshow in Amritsar today to celebrate the party’s thumping victory in the Punjab Assembly elections. The leaders visited the Golden Temple before starting the roadshow.

Mr Mann, who won from Dhuri seat by over 58,000 votes, was elected leader of AAP’s legislature party at a meeting of party legislators in Mohali on Friday. He met Governor Banwarilal Purohit at Chandigarh’s Raj Bhavan on Saturday to stake claim to form the government.

Aam Aadmi Party Registered landslide victory Elections in Punjab with 92 seats. In the 117-member assembly, the Congress won 18 seats, the BJP two and the Shiromani Akali Dali three.

Mr Mann said that the new government in Punjab would try to take governance to the doorsteps of the people so that they do not have to travel to the state capital for a solution.

“We will try to provide all facilities to the people from the comfort of their homes. We even went door-to-door to farmers’ fields seeking votes. But after we win, we ask them to go to Chandigarh. Get your work done. I want at least people to come to Chandigarh to get their work done.”
