Arvind Kejriwal’s big announcement: ‘Delhi government will organize Chhath Puja at 1100 ghats’

New DelhiChief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that the Delhi government has made grand preparations for Chhath Puja at 1,100 places and has allocated Rs 25 crore for the festival. Chhath will be celebrated on 30th and 31st October. During a digital media briefing, the Chief Minister said that his government has made preparations like washrooms, ambulances, first aid and power backup at the sites. He stressed that Delhi Police is fully cooperating in the security aspect and CCTV cameras will be installed at various places.

“For the last two years, the festivities were affected due to the pandemic. Since the formation of our government in 2014, the festivities have grown. Before we came to power, the government used to allocate Rs 2.5 crore to prepare for 69. sites, but now, the budget has increased from 25 crore more sites to 1,100,” Kejriwal said.

He urged the people not only for themselves but also for the country to pray for the Chhath Maiya for relief from Coronavirus.

Kejriwal said, “The intensity of the infection may have reduced but the infection is still there. Please follow COVID-appropriate behavior and wear a mask. There may be fines but please follow the rules.”
