On the second day on May 9, at 9.30 am, the woman’s body was found hanging from the ventilator in the center’s bathroom. The woman had used a sari for hanging. Later, when family members of the woman suspected foul play, a magisterial inquiry was ordered in relation to the matter. Preliminary investigation revealed that the police had arbitrarily placed the accused woman in the center, which was against the rules. The center caters to domestic violence victims, forgotten, abandoned and destitute women. The accused cannot be kept at the centre. After this, the DM has constituted an inquiry committee under the leadership of ACM VI Vanya Singh to investigate the whole matter. Clarification has also been sought from the center in-charge.
