Ashok Gehlot called the Chief Minister of Punjab. On the agenda: Canal repair

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that Bhagwant Mann assured him that efforts would be made.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday spoke to his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann over phone and requested him to get the damaged portion of the Sirhind Canal repaired.

Ashok Gehlot apprised Bhagwant Mann of the problems faced in Rajasthan after a part of the Sirhind canal was damaged on April 1, Mr. Gehlot said in a tweet that they were about to start distributing water from the Indira Gandhi Canal from May 21 . But this he said that now this cannot be done as the water of Sirhind feeder could not be released into Indira Gandhi Canal due to damaged portion.

Gehlot tweeted, “Keeping in mind the need of drinking water in the scorching summer, this work should be completed soon as it provides drinking water to about 2.5 crore people of 10 districts of Rajasthan.”

He said that Bhagwant Mann assured him that efforts would be made to complete the repair work at the earliest.
