Connectivity, in particular, should be transparent, viable and market based, the Minister said while addressing a gathering on the launch Asia Society Policy Institute,
“Similarly, development agendas also need to be broad-based and reflect a global consensus, rather than just individual national objectives. Contributing to the global common good and providing global goods can also make a big difference. And Not least, agreements and decisions should be followed honestly, not treated as a matter of convenience,” he said.
Jaishankar also said that India and China will be weak if they do not come together.Asian century,
“It is said that the coming together of India and China is the first condition for an Asian century. On the contrary, their inability to do so will weaken it,” the minister said. , they should be based on three mutually exclusive: mutual sensitivity, mutual respect and mutual interest.
Jaishankar insisted that a narrow Asian superstition is actually against the continent’s own interest and precisely because Asia is so energetic and creative, it would like to benefit from the open doors of other regions. “It clearly can’t be a one-way street,” he said.
