Amid nationwide outrage over the ‘Smoking Kali’ poster of a documentary film by director Leena Manimekalai, a man and a woman posing as Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are holding a protest in Nagaon, Assam. Controversy has broken out.

The incident was strongly condemned by the Nagaon district units of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, who alleged that the sentiments of Hindu Sanatan Dharma had been hurt.

Event

The controversy began on Saturday evening when men and women dressed as Shiva and Parvati took to the streets to protest the rising prices of fuel, food items and other items. Both the bike riders reached College Chowk in Nagaon and did drama when the vehicle ran out of fuel.

Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the actor dressed as Lord Shiva said the government was working only in the interest of the capitalists and was not concerned about the issues of the common people. He then urged the curious spectators to take to the streets and protest the rising inflation.

After this the artist reached the Bada Bazar area and did a similar street play. The stunt caught the attention of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal. He criticized gimmicks and accused the youth of hurting Hindu sentiments.

Following this a complaint was filed against the actor duo – Birinchi Bora and Karishma at the Nagaon Sadar police station. After this Bora was arrested.
