Votes will be counted on Sunday in the by-elections to seven assembly seats in six states and elaborate arrangements have been made for this. These seats – Adampur in Haryana, Gopalganj and Mokama in Bihar, Andheri (East) in Maharashtra, Munugode in Telangana, Gola Gokarnath in Uttar Pradesh and Dhamnagar in Odisha went to polls on November 3.
Of the seven seats that saw a tough fight between the BJP and regional parties, the saffron party had three and the Congress two, while the Shiv Sena and the RJD had one each.
The polling recorded on 3 November was – Andheri (East) (31.74%), Munugode (93%), Mokama (53.45%), Gopalganj (51.48%), Adampur (75.25%), Gola Gokarnath (55.68%), and Dhamnagar (66.63%).

Gola Gokarnath seat (Uttar Pradesh)
The BJP is hoping to retain the Gola Gokarnath seat in Uttar Pradesh and Dhamnagar in BJD-ruled Odisha on the basis of sympathetic votes as it has fielded the sons of sitting MLAs whose deaths led to the bypolls.

Munugode (Telangana)
In Telangana, where BJP is trying to campaign aggressively in Munugode. The by-election was held after the resignation of Congress MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy. Reddy had contested the election on a BJP ticket.
While 47 candidates are in the fray, the main contest is between Raj Gopal Reddy (BJP), former TRS MLA Kusukuntala Prabhakar Reddy and Congress’s Palvai Shravanthi.
The bypoll has acquired political significance ahead of the assembly elections due next year in Telangana as the winner will have an edge over other seats.
Adampur (Haryana)
Bhajan Lal’s younger son Kuldeep Bishnoi resigned from the post of Congress MLA from Adampur and joined the BJP. Bishnoi’s son Bhavya is now contesting as a BJP candidate, which has been with the Bhajan Lal family since 1968, representing the late former chief minister on nine occasions, his wife Jasma Devi and Kuldeep on four occasions. ,
Mokama and Gopalganj (Bihar)
In Bihar, it was the first electoral test for the Nitish Kumar-led ‘Mahagathbandhan’ government, which was formed less than three months after the JD(U) decided to quit the BJP alliance. Mokama and Gopalganj seats were earlier occupied by RJD and BJP respectively.
In Mokama, BJP candidate Sonam Devi is pitted against RJD’s Neelam Devi, whose disqualification of her husband Anant Singh has necessitated a bypoll. The BJP has fielded Kusum Devi, wife of late party MLA Subhash Singh, against RJD’s Mohan Gupta in Gopalganj.
Andheri East (Maharashtra)
BJP, NCP, Congress decided to stay away, Shiv Sena’s Rutuja Latke is expected to win comfortably in Andheri East assembly constituency in Mumbai. The by-election had to be held in May due to the death of Latte’s husband and Shiv Sena MLA Ramesh Latte.
