Assembly election results 2022: Two current, five former CMs lost

Punjab Result 2022: The current phase of assembly elections has been unique. While the BJP and the AAP are on their way to sweeping victories in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, these elections have also seen two sitting and five former chief ministers torn apart.

The Chief Ministers and former Chief Ministers who lost this time also include veterans like the Chief Minister of Punjab. Charanjit Singh Channi and Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.

The same fate happened to five former chief ministers. Former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Singh Rawat and former Punjab chief ministers Parkash Singh Badal and Amarinder Singh all lost their seats.

In Punjab, three former chief ministers Badal, Singh and Rajinder Kaur Bhattal have lost the elections. Congress leader and CM Channi lost both his seats in this assembly election. In Punjab, most of the current and former CMs lost their seats to AAP candidates.

In the state of Goa, former Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Churchill lost the election to AAP candidate from Alemao Benaulim.

Counting of votes for all the five states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur assembly elections, is underway amid tight security arrangements.

Assembly election results:

In Punjab, the AAP has gained a massive 92 seats, while all other parties have been reduced to leading in less than 20 seats. In UP, however, the BJP is leading in 268 seats, while the main challenger is the Samajwadi Party ahead in 130 seats. The BSP is leading in just one seat, while the others are leading in four seats.

In the hill state of Uttarakhand, BJP is leading on 18 seats, while the opposition Congress is leading in 18 seats. Goa also seems to be going the BJP’s path, with the BJP leading in 20 seats and the Congress alliance leading in just 12 seats. Manipur has also gone on the path of BJP. The party has won 30 seats, while the MPSA and NPEP are leading in four and six seats.
