Volkswagen Group has been trying to enter Formula 1 through its brands Audi and Porsche over the past few years, but the group has probably never been close to a potential F1 entry until now. According to a report from Germany automobilwoche, Audi has increased its offer to buy a stake in the British conglomerate’s Formula 1 team from €450 million to €650 million ($718 million). The report also said that Audi may go after the McLaren sports car brand in the second phase.

Automobilwoche also reported that McLaren is in talks with BMW to jointly develop an architecture for electric sports cars and has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Munich-based automaker, but the agreement is not binding and if Audi If the deal goes ahead with it, it may be cancelled.
