Auli in Uttarakhand is known for its snowy slopes. Uttarakhand government is taking steps to develop Auli as a world class adventure tourist destination and 365 days attraction. According to a report in Times of India, State Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, who chaired the meeting with senior officials of the department, has said that a master plan for the hill town is being prepared.
He said that Auli will now develop into a year-round tourist destination, not just for winters. The government will develop a skiing village apart from various activities to be organized throughout the year.
Sports facilities like trekking, hiking and rock climbing will also be available in the valley in the second half of the year.
The minister said that keeping in mind the children, the government would construct training slopes. These facilities will be made for all age groups. Extensive infrastructure development works will be undertaken to attract more and more tourists to the popular destinations of the hill state.
State Chief Secretary SS Sandhu visited Auli last month to inspect and evaluate the tourist facilities at the hill station.
Auli is a famous winter skiing destination in Uttarakhand. A breathtaking view of the valley is visible from the hill station. Tourists can also enjoy a cable car ride between Joshimath and Gursan that passes through winding trails of dense forest. The ropeway covers a distance of about four kilometers between the Garhwal mountains. One can start their trek to Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Mana Parvat and Dunagiri from the hill station.
