Australian Open 2022 | Krejcikova and Siniakova fought back to win the doubles crown

The win is the Czech pair’s fourth Grand Slam title, after claiming the French Open in 2018 and 2021 and Wimbledon in 2018.

French Open champions Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova won the Australian Open women’s doubles title on Sunday with a 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-4 victory over Anna Danilina and Beatriz Haddad Maia.

The number one seed, who was beaten in the final at Melbourne Park last year, took time to hit his stride and was forced to come back from a set-down to claim the title for the first time.

The unseeded pair overcame the Olympic champions in a tiebreak to win the first set, but the score was leveled at the end of the second set, as the Czech pair found their rhythm.

Krejcikova and Siniakova broke through in the deciding set to claim the advantage from five games off Haddad Maiya’s serve, and Siniakova’s forehand winner widened the gap two games later on Danilina’s serve.

Danielina’s volley in the net earned a break back that stopped her opponents’ celebration, but Krejcikova blocked her serve to close the match.

The win is the Czech pair’s fourth Grand Slam title, after claiming the French Open in 2018 and 2021 and Wimbledon in 2018.
