The 2009 Hollywood blockbuster Avatar, directed by James Cameron, will be re-released in cinema halls in India on 23 September. Avatar: The Way of Water, the first sequel to Avatar, will make its worldwide theatrical debut on December 16. The year amidst great anticipation. Ahead of the release of the sequel, fans will be able to turn back the clock and see Avatar on the big screen once again. Trade analyst Taran Darsh shared the re-release date of Cameron’s Avatar, writing, “Avatar will return to Indian cinemas on 23rd September 2022… *On 23rd September 2022… Sequel to #Avatar: #TheWayOfWater #India I will release on 16th December 2022 (sic).”

Avatar fans reacted and expressed excitement over the announcement of its re-release. One Twitter user wrote, “Since when is the booking open (sic), while another commented, “This will be the best thing to do in September. I am waiting. I hope it will be released in my area. In my childhood. ..I missed it in the theatre. It’s the best movie experience ever.” Those who couldn’t see Avatar at the cinema hall in 2009, will get a chance to witness the thrilling cinematic ride once again on 23rd September.

Avatar Sequel Details

The upcoming Avatar sequel is titled Avatar: The Way of Water. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana will return as Jake Sully and Nawi Netiri, respectively, as the film’s story focuses on the two primary characters, their family, and their lengths to keep each other safe. Footage in the teaser trailer focuses on Jake and Neytiri and includes gorgeous shots of the bright blue waters of the alien world Pandora, above and below the surface. There were also shots of the legendary flying creature Toruk and the new whale-like creatures introduced in the first film.
