Ayan Mukerji: ‘The actors for Brahmastra Part 2 Dev were very developed around 2019’

Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra has been one of the most awaited Hindi movies for a long time. Just the prospect of having our own universe, and the fact that we would have our own superheroes who would have ties to Indian mythology, was enough to get the audience on board and looking forward to the film. While Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva had its share of shortcomings, it cannot be denied that people are endorsing it with the visual magnificence as well as the ability to ‘Estraverse’. In fact, people have their own theories, and they are eagerly waiting for part 2 and to know more about Dev. Now, in a recent interview, Ayan Mukerji has revealed that Dev has been in development since 2019, and had initially planned to reveal the actor’s face in Part 1 itself.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Ayan Mukerji said, “The conversation, vision and actors for Part Two Dev had evolved a lot around 2019. There was a point at which, in the midst of making Part One, we really found time. Start following this whole Dev philosophy. The actual Brahmastra story and conflict come to life in Part Two. In terms of Dev, I’ll go out on a limb and say that he’s probably the most exciting character I’ve come across so far. I am extremely thrilled about Dev’s potential and I hope things align for us in the next three years in a way where we can be able to give you guys your mind for it.”

He also added, “To be honest, we were going to end the film with the facial reveal of Dev’s character for a long time. With a lot of thought and a desire to create some curiosity in the minds of the audience, we did the film. Finished where we did.”

When asked if he would have struggled for Part 1 for Part 2, Ayan revealed, “There are also certain market forces which determine the destiny of a film. I’m not a tycoon yet. Would I fight for the vision of the Astraverse? Yes, I would be, because I am willing to sacrifice a lot to see it in life. I truly believe that this is a very exciting, new road ahead. But I needed the success of part one to really activate in order for me to be able to fully pay the price and sacrifice to take it. I was waiting a bit to see how Part One would go. It’s gone well, and I feel that energy. ,

Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva had collected more than Rs. 400 crores worldwide. The film is still trending well in theatres.
