Bajaj Auto, KTM plan to launch high-end electric motorcycles in India – Times of India

Bajaj Auto And KTM Planning to enter the electric vehicle segment in India. Both the companies are looking for a platform to make electric motorcycles.
At a media conference, Rakesh SharmaBajaj Executive Director said that we are in discussion with KTM and also looking at a platform for electric motorcycles. Further, he said that as the plans are underway, we will announce it at the right time.
Currently, Bajaj Auto is offering Chetak Electric Scooters in the Indian market with an aim to expand its presence to all cities in the country. Last year in March 2022, the company reported sales of 300 units of Chetak, however in Q1 2022, Bajaj recorded sales of 6,200 units and the sales volume is likely to increase in the near future.
Customers can buy new Bajaj Chetak The e-scooter is spread across 27 cities, while the two-wheeler maker is working on expanding its presence to 100 cities. The company has so far received 16,000 pre-bookings for the Chetak electric scooter.
Coming to KTM bikes, the Austrian bike maker offers electric motorcycles in the international market. Specially manufactured for off-roading, these motorcycles cater to the needs of consumers globally.
Since 2007, Bajaj Auto and KTM are partners and have worked jointly on several motorcycles that are on sale under Husqvarna and KTM. The two companies have expanded the partnership and are planning to foray into electric vehicles.
Recently, Bajaj Auto has introduced a new company, which is named Chetak Technologies in which the development of electrical products takes place. The two-wheeler manufacturer is working on launching a series of electric two-wheelers in the coming two years.
