Dhaka: Bangladesh opener Liton Das Will miss the remainder of the One Day International series against Zimbabwe with Knee Injuryof the country Cricket board said on Saturday.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said Liton suffered a five-wicket loss on Friday in the first game of the three-match series and will be ruled out for at least three weeks.
Liton scored 81 before retiring and underwent a scan due to the injury which revealed a muscle strain.
“We did a scan of the injured right hamstring and the report confirmed a grade II muscle strain,” Bangladesh physio Mujaddad Alfa was quoted as saying in a BCB statement.
“It usually takes about three to four weeks to recover from such injuries. He will be further evaluated in the coming days and he will be placed on a rehab plan.”
Batting first in the game, Bangladesh posted 303-2 but Zimbabwe chased down the target with an unbeaten 135 from Sikandar Raza and 110 from Innocent Kaya.
It was Bangladesh’s first ODI defeat against Zimbabwe after 19 consecutive victories in almost eight years.
Liton is the second Bangladeshi player to be ruled out due to injury during the ongoing tour of Zimbabwe.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan returned home after sustaining a finger injury during the second T20 International in Harare on July 31.
Bangladesh have to play the remaining two ODIs against Zimbabwe in Harare on 7 and 10 August.
