Staff at the Amar restaurant in Barcelona were left in shock on Thursday night as the trio walked in. Chef Rafa Zafra claimed that the famous Spanish-American restaurateur José Andrés recommended the restaurant to him.

According to the outlet, Mr. Zafra told Cadena SER, a radio station, “They were suggested by Jose Andres, who has a very close relationship with Obama.” The chef said Mr. Andres informed the 44th US president that reservations were required at the restaurant. He further added that he had a reservation just hours before his visit.

“Jose Andres called me and told me it’s a very important table, but we shouldn’t say anything please. And sure enough, I started investigating and saw that Obama was coming, that a concert by Bruce The program was..” Mr. Zafra told Cadena SER, according to the outlet.

Then he learned that Mr. Spielberg and Mr. Obama were both in town to attend a Springsteen concert with former First Lady Michelle Obama.

“We gave them oysters, conch and rose fish, my classic – caviar bikini – a little bit of everything… and super grateful!” Mr. Zafra continued to tell the outlet.

The chef said the security detail had told staff not to ask for photos. “The security told us please don’t ask for photos, but just before leaving, Obama entered the kitchen and told us it was one of the best meals he ever had and if he could take a photo with the whole team.”

An employee of the restaurant, Pol Perello French, took to Instagram to share the now-viral photo. He wrote in the caption, “Glad this job gives you!! Have a great night.”

According to The Guardian, Barack and Michelle Obama visited some of Barcelona’s most iconic cultural spots on Friday, including the Sagrada Família and the Moco Museum. According to photos and videos shared online, Obama walked through the city hand-in-hand while his security officers guarded tight security and occasionally shook hands with the crowd.
