Newcastle United and Chelsea are reportedly in the hunt to bring Rafinha back to the Premier League
With several Premier League clubs keen to lure Rafinha from Barcelona, the Brazilian has managed to occupy a central point of transfer market discussions. The La Liga giants have set a price tag for Rafinha, amid interest from clubs such as Chelsea and Newcastle United. A report published by Sport claims that Barcelona have decided to set a price tag of £70million for Rafinha. The report suggests that the above amount will help the Catalan giants raise funds to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. Rafinha’s departure will help Barcelona financially to prepare their next project. Rafinha was reportedly initially reluctant to leave Barcelona but the Brazil international changed his mind in recent weeks. The La Liga side are planning to complete the Rafinha deal before the end of the financial year on June 30.
Barcelona acquired Rafinha’s services from Leeds United last summer for 58 million euros and nine other variables. The 26-year-old has found the net 10 times in 45 appearances for Barcelona. In La Liga, Rafinha has registered seven goals and six assists this season. With Lionel Messi’s possible return to Barcelona and Ousmane Dembele regaining his fitness, Rafinha will surely find it difficult to find a place in the playing XI for the Blaugranas next season. In international football, Rafinha has five goals under his belt. He signed a five-year deal with Barcelona last year.
Newcastle United and Chelsea are reportedly hunting to bring Rafinha back to the Premier League. The two Premier League sides are keen to start formal talks for Rafinha as soon as possible. The Magpies, who will play in next season’s Champions League, are believed to have the edge over Chelsea in their pursuit of Rafinha.
Another Premier League giants – Arsenal – have also reportedly expressed their desire to offload Rafinha this summer. According to media reports, Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar is in contact with Rafinha’s agent Deco. Rafinha was linked with a move to London last season, but this ultimately did not materialise. He rejected offers from Arsenal and Chelsea to secure a move to Barcelona.
