Akhand was on his way to the grocery shop near his house last Saturday, when he went missing. Three days later, his businessman father received a ransom call and was asked to pay Rs 50 lakh to ensure his son’s safe release.
Basti SP Ashish Srivastava said that the police managed to trace the accused with the help of STF and eventually arrested the kidnappers. Suraj Singh and Aditya Singh.
The accused knew the victim’s father as they used to supply raw material to him. The SP said that to avoid being caught, the accused used to borrow the phones of roadside hawkers and call them for ransom.
“It happened in all three ransom calls. All calls were made from the same region, but different numbers were used. We formed 10 teams, which scanned the footage of over 100 CCTVs,” said the official.
On all three days the teams saw green bikes in the area.
